MYSTERY AND POETRY SEASONS
My Winter Knight
Snow drifted softly to the ground
The silence complete, I could hear all around
Each pristine white flake land with a whisper of sound
I was alone that day in the mountains high
A light breeze ruffled through evergreens with a gentle sigh
The frozen lake drew me, so I thought I'd give skating a try
As I circled around, a felt no longer alone
I stopped in mid-stride at the sight of a man, unknown
He stood in the clearing, called my name in a strangely familiar tone
I went to him as if I had known him forever and a day
A breeze began to stir, chasing the clouds away
The snow began to twinkle like jewels from an errant sun's ray
He opened his arms and smiled warmly for me
His dark eyes swept my form with such intensity
I pressed against him and like a lover, he held me tenderly
Ebony hair framed his face, straight and soft as down
A knight from a long ago era, he claimed with a slight frown
Had been searching for his love, who in me, he finally found
With those words, there was a stirring in my soul
My knees went weak; my heart raced a fitting toll
His lips met mine and I burned, acknowledging my roll
It was freezing up there, yet I felt on fire
His hands and lips were everywhere, fueling my desire
Then, I let go of the pain when I could go no higher
He said not a word as the afternoon faded to night
He stood proud and noble, my winter Knight
Then he faded away as the tears blurred my sight
I made my way down the mountain alone once again
I began to wonder how long I knew him and when
This was not over; this was far from the end
And I drifted to sleep, listening to the chilled wind.
Stay tuned for the third Poem and the next piece to the puzzle. |
